West Ham must push Mateus Fernandes towards PSG as Man United open talks for £43m swoop
West Ham United must be prepared to work closely with PSG to sanction the sale of Mateus Fernandes, with Manchester United now in talks over a deal.
The Red Devils are now engaged in discussions with the midfielder’s entourage, according to CaughtOffside, and could potentially strike a deal for the Portuguese for as little as £43million.
The 21-year-old’s departure from the London Stadium is now looking “increasingly likely,” while the player himself is keen on the idea of moving to Old Trafford to play Champions League football.
Fernandes has been a key figure for West Ham this term and has long since been earmarked as a player who could net them a huge fee to be reinvested into their squad.
West Ham’s transfer plans will truly take shape once they know which of their current stars will be moving on after their relegation, and it now looks inevitable that Fernandes will head elsewhere.

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider last week that PSG are working on a deal for Fernandes behind the scenes, and added that the fee could be much higher.
Wyness suggested that the French champions could pay as much as £70m for the former Southampton man, and it is surely in the Hammers’ interests to explore that avenue as much as possible.

West Ham need to be sensible and play the two clubs’ interest off against each other, knowing that the Parisiens are ultimately likely to be able to shell out a far bigger sum.
The East Londoners will feel that a deal in the region of the £70m mark is a better representation of Fernandes’ value in the current market, and they must do everything they can to avoid United getting him on the cheap.
The player himself wants Champions League football, and with PSG claiming consecutive titles in that competition, a move there would surely appeal to him just as much as Old Trafford.

West Ham seem increasingly resigned to the idea of Fernandes moving on ahead of next term, and it is now vital for them to ensure that they get what they deserve from his sale.
Preliminary talks underway for second Hammers exit
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Everton have been tracking Taty Castellanos of late, and are now prepared to make a move for him this summer.
The ex-recruitment man suggested that the Argentine’s agent is already speaking to clubs to try and drum up interest in his client, who has little intention of playing Championship football next term.
Everton are strong admirers of the striker and are looking to add stronger options at the top of the pitch, amid continued frustrations over the lack of consistency from Beto and Thierno Barry.
The Toffees are also willing to spend significant cash to get the right frontman this summer, and with Castellanos keen to leave West Ham, they could be about to get their man.
