Medical expert: ‘Investigation needed’ at West Ham after ‘worrying’ Jarrod Bowen update
Further investigations are needed at West Ham to get to the bottom of Jarrdon Bowen’s latest injury.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Bowen was taken off with a heel issue shortly after half-time in the Hammers’ 1-0 defeat at Liverpool last Saturday (5 March).

The club confirmed last Sunday (6 March) that an MRI scan had not uncovered any major damage but that more examinations were scheduled.
The Athletic reported the next day (7 March) that the red-hot attacker is set to miss tonight’s Europa League clash against Sevilla.
Dinnery claims that the 25-year-old’s injury timeframe will depend on whether the injury mechanism was a contact or non-contact incident.
“First and foremost, imaging was done fairly early on,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“Imaging gives great insight but sometimes, due to other factors, it doesn’t give you a definitive diagnosis.
“So it would be no surprise to see him sent for further investigations later in the week. That might be needed.
“My initial thoughts were that it was a non-contact injury around the Achilles. It became evident fairly quickly that he couldn’t continue.
“That’s a worry. But David Moyes gave some indication post-match that there was actually some contact.
“Although very painful, that is certainly the better outcome. So it might just come down to a little bit of pain management.”

Bowen is the Irons’ top scorer and assist maker in 2020-21, with 12 goals and 11 assists in 39 outings.
He was widely tipped to feature in the England squad for the March friendlies against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast.
