West Ham news: Andriy Yarmolenko tipped to start after Bowen ‘huge blow’ – expert
Andriy Yarmolenko is the man in form and could replace the injured Jarrod Bowen at West Ham.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Hammers were handed a “huge blow”.
On Monday (14 March), ExWHUemployee revealed on his Patreon Bowen, 25, is likely to miss games with Sevilla and Tottenham this week.
Yarmolenko, 32, scored as West Ham beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Sunday (13 March).
Despite finding starts hard to come by this season, Kenny claims Yarmoleno could be the man to replace Bowen.
“It’s clearly been an emotional time for Yarmolenko,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“With everything that is going on in Ukraine, it’s amazing that he can play at all.
“But when he has played he has performed, it was a must-win game for them last weekend and he provided the goods.
“He’s the man in form and I don’t see why he shouldn’t be picked again.
“These are some big games for West Ham and losing Bowen is a huge blow for them.
“For the Sevilla game, you need your best players so I would guess Yarmolenko would be in there.
“The fans were clearly delighted to see him scoring so maybe that will spur him on.”

Yarmolenko has not started a Premier League game this season but has made 12 appearances in the competition.
He has, however, featured heavily in the Europa League, making five appearances.
