West Ham news: Danny Mills issues bold prediction after what he’s seen

West Ham can take inspiration from Real Madrid’s comeback against Paris Saint-Germain and progress past Sevilla at the London Stadium next week (17 March).

That is the view of ex-England defender and David Moyes’ friend Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after West Ham’s “not massive” 1-0 loss in the first leg last night (10 March).

As quoted by football.london today (11 March), Moyes insisted the result tees up a “great second leg”.

Sevilla are unbeaten at home this season and have won the Europa League four times in the last eight seasons.

“West Ham are in the tie,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Away from home and away goals don’t count so you don’t have to worry about that.

“The most important thing about two-legged football is, be in the tie come the second leg. 1-0 down is not massive.

“All you have got to do is win the game at the London stadium and you go to extra time. You haven’t got away goals to worry about, that thought of ‘What if we win 2-1?’

“You go out and win the game, simple as that. It’s not like Man City against Sporting where they were 5-0 up and they re dead and buried.

“Real Madrid were still in the tie against PSG despite being 1-0 down from the first leg. You’re by no means out of it.

“Sevilla are a good side but with home advantage at a packed London Stadium with Bowen likely to be fit then West Ham have a real good chance.”
