West Ham news: Mills issues ‘incredible’ David Moyes verdict after £100m transfer update
David Moyes will have done an “unbelievable” job if West Ham finish in the top-six this season – even if they strengthened the squad in January.
That is the view of ex-England international and friend of Moyes’ Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider insisted the West Ham manager was not to blame for the club’s disappointing window.
Kidderminster Harriers’ owner told LBC yesterday (23 February), via Knees Up Mother Brown, the Scot had revealed he had £100million available to strengthen his squad.

However, nobody was brought in and the Hammers’ form has dipped as a result.
“Top-six was always going to be an unbelievable achievement, punching way above their weight even if they brought in a couple of signings,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“To go again after last season, David Moyes has done an incredible job, outstanding.
“Who do you bring in? Kalvin Phillips was mooted alongside Declan Rice, would that have taken you into the top-four? Probably not.
“If Raphinha comes in, he plays on the right but Jarrod Bowen already plays there and is doing well. Is that going to fire you into the top-four? I don’t know.
“A centre-forward who will push Antonio and score 10 goals between now and the end of the season, yes. But who is that player who exists and is available for that money?
“Clearly David Moyes was looking for players. Their scouting network is extensive when you look at all the coaching staff and the experience that they have behind the scenes.

“It wasn’t for the lack of trying. Sometimes you just can’t get the deal done. Either the players aren’t available, clubs won’t sell or the wage demands are too high. There is an awful lot that goes into deals at the top level.
“I don’t think anybody is to blame, certainly not David Moyes. He will have identified his targets.”
