West Ham news: Pundit issues ‘brilliant’ Pablo Fornals claim

Pablo Fornals has been an “unsung hero” for West Ham with his “brilliant performances” often going under the radar, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 26-year-old is “quite happy to let his football do the talking”.

Fornals recorded two assists on Thursday (14 April) as West Ham recorded a famous 3-0 win over Lyon to advance to the Europa League semi-finals.

The Spain international has notched six goals and six assists across 47 appearances in all competitions this term.

As quoted by club media (15 April), Fornals praised the “family” atmosphere at West Ham and insisted it was an “unbelievable” feeling to reach the Europa League’s final four.

Whelan hailed the former Villarreal man for his tireless work at both ends of the pitch.

“He’s the unsung hero for West Ham,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“There are so many good players at the club playing out of their skin right now, and sometimes his brilliant performances can get overlooked.

“Fornals, for me, is someone who works really hard up and down the pitch, defensively and in those creative areas. He can score goals as well.

“They’ve got so many good players right now that people like Fornals are not getting a mention. I don’t think it bothers him – I think he’s quite happy to let his football do the talking.

“Everyone is quite happy to work hard and fight for one another. That is thanks to the family environment David Moyes has created.”
