West Ham news: Pundit issues ‘mad’ verdict after confirmed £50m transfer reveal

West Ham will pay the price for not freshening up their squad during the January transfer window.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the Hammers’ season is in danger of unravelling.

On Friday (25 February) as quoted by The Athletic, David Moyes revealed his side tried to sign Luis Diaz in January.

Diaz ended up completing a £50million transfer to Liverpool amid interest from Tottenham as West Ham failed to sign a senior player in January.

The Hammers also remain in the Europa League and drew Sevilla in Friday’s round of 16 draw.

With two more games on the fixture list and following a string of disappointing performances in the Premier League, Kenny cannot understand why West Ham didn’t freshen up their squad in January.

“It’s ridiculous, West Ham have been crying out for a striker for ages,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Everyone knew they needed some new faces in January, they look absolutely knackered.

“Then you throw in the Europa League and the FA Cup, I think their season is in danger of falling apart a bit.

“They don’t look as sharp as the other teams in the hunt for a top-four spot.

“West Ham are lucky Bowen is scoring because Antonio has stopped and without him they usually don’t do that well.

“Other big players have disappeared as well, Soucek never gets spoken about.

“All they needed was a few new faces and it’s mad that they didn’t bring anyone in.”
