West Ham news: ‘Wowed’ pundit shares ‘phenomenal’ claim
West Ham will win the Europa League after progressing to the semi-finals.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s “incredible” achievement.
On Thursday (14 April) West Ham progressed to the semi-finals of the Europa League with a 4-1 aggregate win over Lyon in the quarters.
They will face Frankfurt in the next round after they beat Barcelona.
West Ham are sixth in the Premier League as it stands, only good enough for Europa Conference League next season.
The winners of the Europa League will win a place in next season’s Champions League and Kenny claims this is now the target for the Hammers.
“They have to be thinking about winning it now, surely,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Semi-finals, against Frankfurt? Wow, they were thinking about Barcelona.
“No disrespect to Frankfurt, I know they beat Barcelona but they are nothing special.
“West Ham will be thinking ‘we can win this now’. They went and beat Lyon, incredible, they are unbelievable.
“So they have to be fully focused on that now and I really think they will go on and win it.
“It’s the Champions League next season for them if they win the whole thing and that would be phenomenal for them.”

West Ham are next in action against Burnley on Sunday (17 April).
They are looking to bounce back after last weekend’s surprise loss to Brentford (10 April).
