West Ham only waiting on Oleksandr Zinchenko’s approval before completing transfer – pundit

Oleksandr Zinchenko won’t be stopped from joining West Ham if he wants to leave Man City.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.

According to the Evening Standard (6 June), Arsenal and West Ham have stepped up their interest in Zinchenko, 25, ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report claims Man City will not stand in the way of the versatile star as the Irons search for a new left-back.

He recently caught the eye in Ukraine’s games against Scotland (1 June) and Wales (5 June) in the World Cup play-offs.

Kenny insists the transfer only depends on if Zinchenko wants to swap winning trophies with Man City for a new challenge at West Ham.

“For me, it just depends on whether Zinchenko wants to leave,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Obviously West Ham are interested and that gives him the chance to play more games.

“Listen, players like him, it all depends on how much they want to play football.

“Are they happy playing a bit-part at Man City, winning cups and trophies but not playing every game?

.”Or do you want to go to West Ham and test yourself?

“You can try and build on West Ham’s recent progress, it all depends on the player for me.”

Zinchenko played 28 times, including 10 league starts, in the 2021-22 season as Pep Guardiola’s side lifted the Premier League.

He is under contract at Man City until June 2024.
