West Ham points deduction? Keith Wyness reacts to £110m development
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed West Ham are likely to be well within the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) despite their lavish summer spending.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted Crysencio Summerville’s arrival “has a great chance of coming off” for the Irons.
According to Transfermarkt, West Ham have spent almost £110million so far in the window – which is set to slam shut on 30 August.
Summerville, Max Kilman, Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme have all arrived for hefty fees while Guido Rodriguez and Wes Foderingham have joined on free transfers.
West Ham set to dodge PSR punishment, says Wyness
West Ham will kick off the Julen Lopetegui era with his first competitive fixture against Aston Villa next Saturday (17 August).
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Fullkrug seems a character, he’s a bit of a cult hero in the making.
“West Ham have been down this road in terms of a striker who hasn’t quite worked for them – and I hope this one does.
“The Summerville signing has got a great chance of coming off.
“Summerville reminds me of Jarrod Bowen.
“In terms of the economics, I think they’re doing ok.

“I think they’ll be fine in terms of the PSR limit. They’re stretching it, but they’ll be ok.
“It’s now down to Lopetegui to get off to a good start in this new era for him.”
