West Ham ‘respond to Everton bid for Tomas Soucek’

West Ham United have rejected a bid from Premier League rivals Everton for Czechia international midfielder Tomas Soucek.

The 30-year-old featured as West Ham were thrashed 5-1 by Chelsea at the London Stadium on Friday, 22 August.

West Ham reject Everton bid for Tomas Soucek

Amid the Hammers’ poor form, Potter is under increasing pressure at the London Stadium.

Meanwhile, Soucek was a key player for West Ham last term, notching nine goals and one assist in 38 appearances across all competitions.

His exploits for Potter’s side suggest that he would be an asset for Everton, who are looking to make further progress under Moyes.

However, according to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg via X on Monday, 25 August, West Ham have rejected a bid for their man from the Toffees.

West Ham have endured a poor start to the season

The East London club already look like a relegation candidate just two games into the new Premier League season, having endured a largely poor campaign last term.

Soucek’s exit would exacerbate those issues, so Potter must be pleased by the news that his side have rejected Everton’s advances for the midfielder.

Soucek has been a key asset for West Ham since joining from Slavia Prague back in 2020, and his experience should help them through tough times in the Premier League.

The Hammers have already lost former stalwarts like Michail Antonio, Vladimir Coufal, and Aaron Creswell this summer, so parting company with the 30-year-old would be damaging.

Contrastingly, Soucek would be a quality addition for Everton, which is why the Merseyside club have bid for his services.

Meanwhile, football finance expert Dan Plumley has backed the London Stadium outfit to take swift action over Potter in a West Ham Zone exclusive.
