West Ham United are not expected to sack Julen Lopetegui in the near future despite their poor start to the season.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson made it clear he believes that people “won’t be talking about West Ham” in a couple of weeks.

It has been a start to forget for Lopetegui’s tenure at the Hammers, with the club currently sat 15th in the Premier League after the opening eight fixtures.

The Hammers have won just twice this season, and they boast the fourth-worst defensive record in the division.

The Irons will be back in action on Sunday (27 October) against Man United, who are also being led by a manager under pressure in Erik ten Hag.

Julen Lopetegui is expected to have a future at West Ham United

“They should be doing better in the forward areas,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“Is Ten Hag going to survive the weekend? But all of a sudden that's Lopetegui.

“Lopetegui, he's bang under pressure.

“You don't want to say it, but actually the amount of money that he's spent, you brought a new manager in, you're trying to change things, you're trying to change a project.

“Results buy players into the dressing room, you can have a manager that players may think, ‘not really sure on this training, not really sure on this.’

“But actually, when results turn on the pitch, then everybody buys into what the manager's doing.

“[Max] Kilman, he looks to me like a good player, there's a defensive partnership they're building.

“Honestly, in a couple of weeks, we won't be talking about West Ham, they'll get a couple of results and they'll be okay.”
