Expert salutes West Ham as reason for Mark Noble’s Rush Green return revealed

West Ham deserve credit for continuing to offer their medical services to the retired Mark Noble.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

One-club man Noble, 35, retired at the end of the 2021-22 campaign after spending 22 years in total with the Irons.

But the former midfielder was pictured alongside new signing Patrick Kelly as the 17-year-old was unveiled as a Hammer following his move from Coleraine last Friday (1 July).

The accompanying statement revealed that Noble had been at Rush Green receiving treatment for a five-a-side injury.

Dinnery saluted West Ham for their commitment to their former stars.

“He is Mr West Ham, whether that is in an official capacity or otherwise,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“He will always be welcome at the club, in any way, shape or form. It’s right that clubs look to continue those relationships way beyond retirement.

“He has such an affinity with the club and the supporters. He’s a legend there. He’s part of the furniture, so you would expect nothing less.

“You see a lot of former players coming back to train at their old clubs. I think that’s really good.

“With football, we can be quite cynical. Yes, it is about the bottom line and money. But it’s also unique regarding looking after former players and keeping the connection.”
