West Ham are set to sign 26-year-old Spanish attacker – report

West Ham are set to sign Brentford attacker Jota, according to a report.
Hammers news outlet Read West Ham have reported on their website that the 26-year-old Spaniard is set for a move across London and it is said a deal “could be wrapped up soon.”
Slaven Bilic’s side are also reportedly close on moves for attacking duo Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic and it would appear clear that the club are stepping up with their summer business.
Jota himself made the switch to England back in 2014 from Celta Vigo and has become one of the standout players for the Bees.
However, he also has just one-year remaining on his contract and it is said that the Championship club have conceded that the attacker, who played 23 times, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in all competitions last season will be departing this summer.
Football Insider verdict:
There is no doubting that Jota is a talented player at Championship level, but he is so far unproven in England’s top-flight and this signing seems very similar to what saw Robert Snodgrass make the move from Hull in January. The Scotsman has so far failed to make an impact in east London despite starring for the Tigers in the Premier League and an addition of an established professional like Jota could go the same way. However, he is also unlikely to command a mega-fee given his contract situation and this move could be slightly risk free for West Ham this summer.
In other West Ham transfer news, the Hammers are willing to allow this first team player to leave the club.
