Medical Expert fears Manuel Lanzini could miss ‘months’ at West Ham from ‘flare-up’
Manuel Lanzini could miss “months” of action for West Ham if he suffers a reaction to an Achilles problem.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Lanzini, 28, played the final half-an-hour as West Ham overcame Watford on Tuesday (8 February) and provided the assist for Jarrod Bowen’s winner.
He has been a doubt for the clash after David Moyes told club media on Monday (7 February) that he “needed a bit of time with an Achilles injury.”
Dinnery fears that the Argentine playmaker’s ankle could “flare up” and cause him further problems down the line.
“He was pictured with the squad and then he played against Watford,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“That is some indication that the problem itself isn’t too serious. It could just be a bit of overuse, maybe a bit of tendonitis.
“That may be why it needs to be managed and why Moyes had been quite coy with his updates. He never gave a definitive timeline.
“These sorts of problems can flare up pretty quickly and you can’t be certain. But if he is managed conservatively, he should be in and around the squad.
“But if something does flare up, we have seen these go on for several weeks, if not months. That could happen with Lanzini.”

Lanzini has scored six goals and supplied three assists in 27 appearances this term.
His West Ham side moved into the top four after victory over Watford.
In other news, pundit can’t believe what he’s just seen from West Ham star Declan Rice.
