West Ham news: Medical expert details Arthur Masuaku ‘trauma’ that could end his season
West Ham star Arthur Masuaku will have suffered severe “trauma” from his litany of previous knee injuries.
‘That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Masukaku has not featured since the Hammers’ 3-2 defeat to Leeds United on 16 January, which was his 10th successive appearance in the league.

As quoted by the Evening Standard last Friday (11 February), the 28-year-old left-back has a piece of “floating bone” in his knee joint.
The 28-year-old left-back has visited an orthopaedic consultant for advice on the knee issues which have plagued his recent career.
Irons insider ExWHUemployee told the West Ham Way podcast on Monday (14 February) there is concern within the club that his season could be over.
Dinnery analysed the defender’s predicament and how his history of knee injuries will affect his recovery.
“When you talk about a floating bone, what we mean is some sort of loose bodies,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“That could be bone or it could be cartilage in and around that knee joint. If it is staying localised within the joint or moving around, we don’t know.
“Some days it can feel a bit better but other days it can be really irritating and impacts your pain and range of movement.
“If it’s unstable, that can be dealt with through injections. It’s not ideal but it can be used to manage the pain.
“Typically, this is caused by wear and tear. But we know how many problems Masuaku has had with his knee, so Trauma will be a significant factor.
“It could be managed until the end of the season and then he might go for a clean-out, free up that joint and remove that irritation.
“But the decision will be made based on the severity of the problem and whether or not they think it can be managed or not.”

Masuaku has scored once and supplied one assist across 18 appearances this term.
He is under contract at the London Stadium until 2024.
