West Ham takeover could be completed soon after new ‘whispers’ – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed a takeover could materialise at West Ham before the end of the year.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested development work could then be undertaken at the London Stadium to make it “more effective” for hosting football.
West Ham is presently owned by four major investors – Daniel Kretinsky, David Sullivan, the Gold Family and Albert ‘Tripp’ Smith.
Vanessa Gold, the daughter of late ex-owner David, announced in October 2023 that she would consider selling part of her 25% share in the club if the right offer came along.
According to Forbes (May 2024), the Irons are worth £880million after their recent success in the Premier League and Uefa Conference League victory in 2023.
West Ham takeover could be complete ‘this year’, says Wyness
Wyness claimed European football is now the “standard” at West Ham and will be expected of new boss Julen Lopetegui.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’m hearing a lot of whispers about the ownership situation at West Ham.
“There could be a whole new structure coming in. That could mean things done to the London Stadium to make it a more effective football ground.
“West Ham are another club to keep an eye on because I’m hearing there are some big issues which could be coming to a head this year.
“Moyes winning the European trophy last year has set the standard.
“That’s what they should be looking to achieve now.

“There’s no doubt they want that every year – and they should be there every year.
“Let’s hope that Lopetegui can get off to a good start on the pitch because if not, the fans will be on his back – and rightly so.”
