West Ham news: Kieran Maguire issues verdict on Kretinsky ‘cash crisis’ after takeover latest
Daniel Kretinsky may take a hit from the Russia-Ukraine crisis – but it is unlikely to affect his ability to complete a full West Ham takeover.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hammers co-owner’s investment portfolio.
Per the Daily Mail last Saturday (12 March), Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has caused the Kretinsky-owned Eustream gas pipeline’s business to falter.

Kretinsky, who bought 27 per cent of the Irons in November last year, has the option for a full takeover from the current regime after 2023.
But it is claimed that the threat to the Czech billionaire’s external wealth could derail his plans to purchase the remaining equity.
Maguire, however, claims that Kretinsky’s diverse portfolio means he has been insulated from a “cash crisis”.
“I think the threat has been overplayed a little bit,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“That’s because Daniel Kretinsky has diversified his investment portfolio. He has significant investments across Europe.
“That does include some companies that have links to the pipeline, but I don’t see that he is dependent on one in particular.
“Could the potential threat to his investment in relation to the pipeline give him a cash crisis? I don’t think there’s significant evidence to support that.
“So, in my view, reports of a full takeover being put in jeopardy are perhaps being overstated.”

David Gold and David Sullivan have zeroed in on 2023 as that is when a windfall tax clause relating to the London Stadium expires.
They would have to pay hundreds of millions if a sale was completed before that date.
