West Ham tipped to accelerate January signing plan after ‘big’ Zouma news confirmed – pundit
Kurt Zouma’s injury is “a big blow” to West Ham given their current absentees, according to Paul Robinson.
The former Spurs and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the club will have to enter the January transfer market for a centre-half is the 27-year-old’s injury is significant.
Zouma was forced off after 71 minutes of Saturday’s 3-2 win over Chelsea at the London Stadium.
West Ham confirmed yesterday (7 December) that the summer signing suffered a hamstring tendon injury in the clash.
According to the Guardian, the French centre-back will be sidelined for approximately 12 weeks because of the problem.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the news, Robinson said: “It’s an area Moyes is going to have to look at in January, given the severity of the injuries.
“Losing Zouma is going to be a big blow. He has been excellent since they signed him.
“I think it’s most likely that Moyes will revert to a back four in the mean time and bring [Vladimir] Coufal back in at right-back.
“They have [Craig] Dawson and [Issa] Diop but now that Zouma is out for a length of time they will have to enter the market quickly in January.”

Zouma joins Angelo Ogbonna in the treatment room at West Ham.
Football Insider understands (29 November) Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips is a centre-back the Irons are lining up a move for.
In other news, a pundit has predicted Declan Rice could sign a new West Ham contract amid a ‘£100m’ claim.
