West Ham tipped to launch ‘late bid’ for Lingard after £5m offer reveal – pundit
Noel Whelan has tipped West Ham to launch a “late bid” to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United after seeing Newcastle United make a move.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted a move back to the London Stadium would be much more appealing for the 29-year-old.
As revealed by Football Insider today (Friday, 21 January), Newcastle have had a £5million loan bid for Lingard knocked back by United.

The Red Devils are understood to be holding out for a permanent deal, with the playmaker out of contract this summer.
The Evening Standard claim (21 January) David Moyes is interested in re-signing Lingard but that Manchester United do not want to sell to a top-four rival.
However, Whelan suggested West Ham could still launch a late bid to tempt the north west outfit into selling.
Asked if he thought West Ham would make a move after seeing Newcastle table a bid, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Possibly, yeah.
“Especially after how well he did last season. He has probably got a great relationship with David Moyes and vice versa.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if they came in with a late bid. It’s a much more appealing proposition right now, because of where they are in the league.
“When you look at the bigger picture, that probably makes more sense for Jesse Lingard if that deal is on the table.”

Lingard scored nine goals in 16 appearances during his loan spell at West Ham last season.
He has started just two games since returning to Old Trafford last summer.
