West Ham tipped to seal ‘brilliant’ deal for 21-year-old ‘similar to Eden Hazard’ – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted a West Ham move for Hull City talent Keane Lewis-Potter would make “real sense”.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, cited David Moyes’ success with similar Championship stars such as Jarrod Bowen.

According to West Ham insider ExWHUEmployee, speaking on the West Ham Way Podcast (21 February), Moyes’ side are targeting Lewis-Potter, 21, ahead of a potential summer swoop.

The starlet has already notched 26 goals and 12 assists in 111 career appearances for boyhood club Hull.

Lewis-Potter is out of contract at the KCOM Stadium at the end of next season.

Hutton claimed Moyes can “mould” the young forward into the player he wants if a “brilliant move” can be agreed.

“It makes real sense,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“There’s minimal risk in these sorts of transfers. David Moyes has gotten the best out of these Championship talents in the past.

“He seems to put an arm around them and really improve their games – you just have to look at Jarrod Bowen for an example.

“I think with a move like this, you have time on your hands. Moyes can mould him into the style of player he wants.

“For Lewis-Potter personally, to step up into a team who are playing European football and challenging for that top four, I think that’s where every player wants to be.

“I think it would be a brilliant move for West Ham and the player.”

West Ham

As quoted by The Athletic (26 December 2021), former Hull City player and youth coach Craig Fagan branded Lewis-Potter “similar to Eden Hazard”.

The youngster is primarily a left-winger but has also played on the right flank and through the middle for the Tigers.
