West Ham tipped to sign Kelly and transform him into ‘top player’ after transfer update – pundit

Kevin Campbell has claimed David Moyes could transform Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly into a “top player” at West Ham.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Scottish manager will be looking to shape the 23-year-old into his mould in east London.

As reported by the Daily Telegraph on Sunday (26 December), Moyes has identified Kelly among his top targets to bolster his injury-hit defence when the transfer window opens on Saturday.

The Irons are in the market for a new centre-back following injuries to Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.

Campbell suggested the centre-back would be a “good addition” in the winter window.

“Moyes will be wanting someone experienced in the English game who can come straight into a Premier League side,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Kelly fits that bill. He’s got his qualities as well, and Moyes will be thinking he can improve him and mould him into a top player.

“That seems to be the key for David Moyes when he looks at making a signing. He’s very good on the training ground.

“They need a few fresh faces to keep up the intensity at West Ham as they’ve taken a little dip recently.

“Signing Lloyd Kelly would be a good addition in January and I think it could happen.”

West Ham sit four points adrift of Champions League qualification after 19 games.

Bournemouth captain Kelly has played 19 times for the Cherries this term, with the south coast club flying high at the top of the Championship.
