West Ham ‘to let Danny Ings leave’ – Ex-Irons scout
West Ham are “very unlikely” to offer Danny Ings a new contract before his current deal expires, according to their recently-departed scout Mick Brown.
Brown, who worked as a senior scout for the club until leaving with David Moyes at the end of last season, exclusively revealed to Football Insider that the club believe he is no longer a Premier League-level player.
The 32-year-old arrived at the London Stadium in a £15million move from Aston Villa in 2023, and has since made 56 appearances for the club.
However, he fell out of favour under David Moyes last season, starting just seven games, and has now started just once in Julen Lopetegui’s first eight games.
With less than a year left on his current deal, he will be able to negotiate a move abroad from January before leaving for free in the summer of 2025.
West Ham set to make Danny Ings contract decision
Since joining the club in January 2023, Ings has scored just five goals in 56 appearances across all competitions, and now looks likely to leave the club for free after two-and-a-half years.
Brown, who remains well-connected at the London Stadium, explained that Ings was initially signed to add goals to Moyes’ team, but is now surplus to requirements.
“West Ham signed Danny Ings because they had a goals deficit,” he told Football Insider.
“He was a buyable asset in terms of his availability and cost, so the club were keen to make a move to bring him in to help out.
“I’ve always thought he’s one of those players who’s as honest as the day is long, but he’s not a Premier League player any more.

“That’s the bottom line, that’s what the club will be looking at now and that’ll be their thinking.
“It’s very unlikely that they’ll offer him a new deal, from what I know they’ll let him leave when his contract runs out at the end of the season.”
In other news, the Hammers board already regret sacking David Moyes.
