West Ham told to complete ‘unbelievable’ Jesse Lingard signing after what pundit has heard

West Ham should re-sign Jesse Lingard before he joins an MLS club.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.

Football Insider revealed on 4 July that West Ham and Everton have been told that Lingard is holding out for a deal worth £150,000-a-week – around £7.5million per year.

However, ESPN updated on 6 July to reveal that the England international was set to fly to the USA to hear offers from two MLS sides.

Lingard scored nine goals and supplied five assists during a loan spell at the London Stadium in the second half of the 2020-21 season.

Kenny wants Lingard to at least stay in the Premier League.

“West Ham will be looking to strengthen,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They need an out-and-out striker but I think Lingard would be an excellent signing. I hope West Ham do go back in for him.

“He has an unbelievable time at West Ham. I heard rumours last week that he might be going to America.

“I hope he doesn’t, it would be a waste. I want to see him back in the Premier League. When he was playing week in week out he was unbelievable.

“He added a lot of options to that West Ham team so I hope at least he stays in the Premier League.”

Lingard only started two Premier League games during the 2021-22 season after failing to move away from Old Trafford in the summer of 2021 and in January.

As revealed by Football Insider, the Red Devils rejected a £5million loan bid for Lingard from Newcastle in January.

In other news, sources have revealed the Hammers and Fulham are plotting moves for ex-Everton star Dijbril Sidibe.
