West Ham told to seal ‘bargain’ Origi signing as source shares double update

Noel Whelan insists Divock Origi would be a “brilliant” deadline day signing for West Ham.

The former Leeds hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest claims on the Hammers’ hunt for a striker.

According to club insider ExWHUemployee, speaking on his most recent podcast, West Ham are still keen to sign Liverpool striker Origi.

However, it was also claimed David Moyes doesn’t want the forward.

As revealed by this site on 9 August, West Ham had opened preliminary talks over signing the Belgian centre-forward.

Liverpool initially wanted £20million-plus in January but a Hammers source has told Football Insider that £15m could now seal a deal.

Origi has three years remaining on the contract he signed in 2019 but his future at Anfield is up in the air.

Today, this site also revealed West Ham are hopeful of landing Jesse Lingard and completing other late business before tonight’s cut-off.

Whelan insists the forward could be an “absolute bargain” if West Ham can get the financials right.

“I don’t think he’s a risk,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

“I think he’s only a risk if the manager doesn’t want the player. That then makes everything uncomfortable.

“Moyes won’t want a player he doesn’t need. There are better ways to get things that you want.

“He is a brilliant player on his day, he can play anywhere across the front three.

“He’s and handful and he knows where the goal is, he’s also very good at holding up the play and bringing in other players.

“He’s a bit like Antonio. A player who we’ve seen do well in spurts, he needs to get 90 minutes every week.

“Origi could turn out to be an absolute bargain for the club if he gets that game time.”

In other news, Danny Mills claims Moyes has just pulled off a ‘brilliant move’ as West Ham confirm deal.
