West Ham told to sign Michail Antonio replacement after £34m reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has claimed West Ham need to sign a back-up for Michail Antonio this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said the Hammers will be looking to strengthen all positions before the start of next season.

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato (12 July), David Moyes’ side have tabled a bid for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, 23.

West Ham are said to have offered £34million for the forward.

The Italian international has four years remaining on his contract with the Serie A side after signing a contract extension earlier this year.

When asked what positions the Irons will be looking to bolster before the end of the window, Hutton told Football Insider: “Every club will want to strengthen, it’s so difficult to keep on top of all the teams and what they all want and the players coming in and going out.

I think last season probably there was a lot of emphasis on Antonio. If he wasn’t fit, who came in and led that line?

So these are probably situations that David Moyes has identified and what he wants to go and bring in.

West Ham

You obviously hear about Jesse Lingard and people like that so I think that would be a good move. But you’re looking to strengthen all positions, especially if you’re going for European places in this league.

Nobody is standing still so you’re always looking to improve the squad.

In other news, a pundit has claimed Everton could now beat West Ham to Armando Broja signing amid ‘behind-the-scenes’ claim.
