West Ham top-four hopes hit by crushing blow after yet another injury confirmed – pundit
Paul Robinson fears injuries and a lack of squad depth could cost West Ham in their pursuit of fourth place.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Leeds United goalkeeper said investment in the January transfer window may be necessary if the Irons are to qualify for the Champions League.
The Hammers confirmed yesterday (7 December) that Kurt Zouma has suffered a hamstring tendon injury in the clash.
According to the Guardian, the summer signing will be sidelined for approximately 12 weeks.
Zouma joins fellow defenders Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell, Ben Johnson and Ryan Fredericks in the treatment room.
When asked by Football Insider if the injuries could prove pivotal in the top-four race, Robinson said: “West Ham were favourites for fourth place.
“Man United, Spurs and Arsenal are all works in progress but they are up there. It’s wide open at the moment. All of those teams are in with a chance.
“West Ham are in pole position at the moment but the test will this period coming up because they’ve got a lot of injuries and not a lot of squad depth. When you look at Man United, Arsenal and Spurs’ squad, they are stronger.
“If West Ham are in fourth spot in January the club may invest in the squad to try and stay there.”

David Moyes’ side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.
They travel to Burnley on Sunday.
