West Ham transfer news: This is how Moyes could beat Arsenal to ‘brilliant’ Darwin Nunez coup – pundit
Noel Whelan has told West Ham to launch an immediate move to beat Arsenal to the signing of Darwin Nunez this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the Irons need table a bid for the Benfica 22-year-old before their rivals to have any chance of signing him.
As reported by the Evening Standard on Wednesday (23 March), West Ham have made signing a striker a priority, with Nunez among their targets.

The same newspaper reported back in January that the Irons had an offer worth a total of £60million rejected.
Meanwhile, Portuguese publication Record (24 March) claim Arsenal have joined the hunt and have made initial contact over a move.
Whelan insisted many clubs will be keen on signing Nunez this summer.
He suggested West Ham would need to move quickly to get a deal done.
Asked if signing Nunez would be a coup for West Ham, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Absolutely. With top players and people that can score goals, you don’t go under the radar.
“You get noticed by a lot of clubs. So I’m pretty sure it won’t just be West Ham. If they can get there before everybody else in the queue, they’ve done a brilliant bit of business.
“But I’m pretty sure somebody with those stats in a season and Champions League will be looked at by other teams as well. Don’t forget, Arsenal are going to be losing two strikers this season.
“If teams have got the money, I’m sure there are going to be so many scouts watching him.”

Nunez has netted 26 times in 33 appearances this season.
Four of his goals have come during Benfica’s run to the Champions League quarter-finals.
