
West Ham United ready to smash transfer record as ‘huge funds set aside’ – sources
West Ham United have ‘set aside huge funds’ to sign a new striker this summer and are willing to smash their transfer record for the right man, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Hammers are keen to bolster their attack in the off-season and still have long-term target Dominic Solanke on their radar.
The club were keen on the Bournemouth star’s services last summer and in the January transfer window but were put off by his hefty price tag.
The Irons have little depth in the centre-forward role this season, with winger-by-trade Jarrod Bowen frequently filling in up top amid Michail Antonio’s injury issues.

Now, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that they could revive their interest in Solanke, who has had a prolific season in the Premier League.
Across 24 league outings, the 26-year-old has scored 14 goals and provided three assists in the league to help the Cherries climb to 13th in the table.
He currently ranks third in the top-flight’s top goalscorers list, with just superstars Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah above him with 17 and 15 respectively.
The Englishman penned a new deal with Bournemouth in September last year to extend his stay until 2027.
The East Londoners are already plotting moves to improve their squad for next season, with Football Insider revealing (19 February) that they are keeping close tabs on Sunderland forward Jack Clarke.
