West Ham will beat Leeds in transfer battle as pundit issues ‘huge’ claim
West Ham will beat Leeds United in the race to sign a new striker this summer.
That’s according to former Hammers hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about both clubs’ need for a new striker.
Both West Ham and Leeds United only have one senior striker on their books in Michail Antonio, 32, and Patrick Bamford, 28.

Neither club chose to sign a new striker in January and, as a result, McAvennie expects both clubs to go head to head in the transfer market this summer.
“Leeds have had problems with Bamford all season, we know this,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“West Ham have had problems with Antonio as well. He’s a great player but he’s not scoring enough.
“There is no one else to come in at either club. Bowen did it for a bit at West Ham but he’s injured now.
“They have the young lad Gelhardt at Leeds but he’s still learning. The fact of the matter is both clubs will be looking for a new striker in the summer.
“I think they will be in the same market, looking at the same strikers.
“So you look at the families, the wives, that plays a huge role. Do you want to live in London or Leeds? I know which I’m picking.
“They are both looking at spending serious money on a striker, I think they will be looking at the same names.”

Antonio has failed to score in his last 10 Premier League games.
Bamford may not play again this season after picking up an injury in 18 March’s win over Wolves.
