David Gold delivers big West Ham injury update on Twitter

West Ham chairman David Gold has delivered a huge injury update by confirming that striker Andy Carroll should be fit enough to play in their clash with Stoke.

The 80-year-old announced the news on Twitter on Sunday morning as he responded to a fan’s question regarding the 28-year-old striker.

The chairman is known for his openness and honesty on social media, often answering questions and responding to fans on Twitter about issues such as team selection and injuries.

“Carroll should be available for the game against Stoke,” Gold reported on his personal Twitter account.

Carroll, who has been with the Hammers since 2013, has suffered a recurring groin strain this season, with the injury keeping the striker out of his side’s 0-0 draw with Everton.

The news will be a big boost to boss Slavan Bilic, who chose to line up with a front two of Andre Ayew and Jonathan Calleri, who was making his first Premier League start, in their draw with the Toffees.

This season Carroll has managed to find the net seven times in 22 appearances for the club, but a series of injuries have limited him to just 15 starts in the Premier League, the last in his side’s 2-2 draw with basement club Sunderland.

Carroll’s career has been plagued with injuries, and has made just 98 league appearances for the Hammers, including a loan spell in 2012/13, scoring 30 Premier League goals.

In other West Ham news, Trevor Sinclair voiced his opinion on the controversy in the side’s draw with Everton.
