West Ham’s plan to sign Andre Silva revealed after talks twist – O’Rourke
West Ham will turn their attention to Andre Silva if they can’t agree a Brian Brobbey loan with Ajax, sources have told Football Insider.
The Irons have held extensive talks with the Dutch giants over a move for the 22-year-old forward.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (27 January) that the move for Brobbey has hit a stumbling block with Ajax only willing to let the Netherlands international leave on a permanent basis.
They are keen to agree a sale this month or let the striker join West Ham on loan with a mandatory purchase option.
Graham Potter’s side do not want to fork out big money in this window after their lavish spending last summer (2024).
RB Leipzig star Silva, 29, has been identified as a viable alternative with West Ham aware he is not currently in favour and will be available to loan.
He has made 15 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far in the 2024-25 campaign.
West Ham line up Silva as Brobbey back-up
The Portugal international has hit just one goal and notched three assists in those outings.
West Ham are desperate to add striking reinforcements before the 3 February deadline after injuries to Jarrad Bowen, Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio.

Potter’s side lined up with Lucas Paqueta up front for their 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday (25 January).
The Irons, who are out of both cup competitions, sit 14th in the Premier League but are 11 points clear of relegation danger.
