What England records Harry Kane smashed during World Cup qualifier vs Latvia

England’s all-time top scorer, Harry Kane, broke more records during his side’s 5-0 victory over Latvia in World Cup qualifying.

Kane returned to Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup after being benched for the 3-0 beating of Wales on Friday, October 10.

The 32-year-old has started the 2025/26 campaign in exceptional scoring form, as he currently leads the European Golden Boot race ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

The Bayern Munich superstar has already surpassed 20 goals in all competitions for club and country, continuing his hot streak during England’s 5-0 victory over Latvia.

Harry Kane breaks multiple England records during Latvia win

Kane sent a thunderous strike past goalkeeper Krisjanis Zviedris on the stroke of half-time before scoring a well-taken penalty minutes later.

It was the forward’s 13th brace in England colours, becoming the first player in Three Lions history to hit the total, surpassing Nat Lofthouse’s 12, as per Opta.

That wasn’t the only record that Kane broke on the night, as the Bayern Munich centre-forward now has the most England goals (18) whilst playing for a non-English club, a record previously held by Gary Lineker at Barcelona.

Tuchel’s men have now confirmed that spot at the 2026 World Cup with relative ease, after winning all six of their games and scoring 18 goals without conceding.

Kane has fired home 33% of their goals in qualifying (6), and once again, if they stand any chance of winning the competition next year, the former Tottenham man will play a crucial role.

Kane’s incredible stats vs Latvia

As England saunter through the group stage without being tested, everyone knows that Tuchel will only be judged by how he does in the big tournaments.

Tuchel has been brought in to win trophies, and ultimately, an in-form Kane has the potential to fire them to glory for the first time in 60 years.

Whilst England were rarely tested against Latvia, the German would have been impressed with his all-round game.

90 minutes played
2 goals

16/20 (80%) pass completion

2 successful dribbles

Kane was instrumental in every aspect of his side’s win, including in the build-up, where he showcased his ability to drop deep and distribute possession.

There’s no wonder Bayern Munich want to give Kane a new contract and shut down any speculation linking him with a return to Tottenham.
