Whelan: Edouard transfer hunt reignited after Celtic slash price tag by £15m
Odsonne Edouard will be a man in demand once again after an impressive return to form at Celtic, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds United and Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested suitors had cooled their interest in the 23-year-old after some indifferent performances this term.
Edouard, who scored 28 goals and contributed 19 assists last season, started this term with a bang after a hat-trick against Hamilton.
However, he netted just four times in his next 14 league appearances as injury and Covid-19 limited his game time at Parkhead.
Following another period of self-isolation among the Celtic squad, the Frenchman has scored five goals in his last four appearances, including one against Motherwell on Saturday.
Despite Celtic slashing their asking price from £40million to £25m during the January window, Whelan believes interest would have waned in Edouard due to his indifferent performances.

However, the ex-striker suggested the Celtics star’s recent displays will have reignited clubs’ interest ahead of the summer.
“It keeps top clubs looking at him,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“It keeps the teams that might want that goalscorer that they need in their side with the spotlight on him and in their thoughts.
“He’ll have been out of their thoughts for a while. Now he’s back in there scoring goals, he’s making headlines and that’s what teams love to see you know, that’s what keeps teams sniffing about a player.”
Edouard has netted a total of 16 times and chipped in with four assists for Celtic across all competitions this season.
He has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Parkhead and is understood to be open to a move away at the end of the season.
