Whelan: Forshaw is like a new signing – he should make Leeds return tonight
Noel Whelan would love to see Adam Forshaw make his competitive return from injury when Leeds face Crewe tonight.
The Whites ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the midfielder is still a quality player.
Forshaw has been injured for almost two years and hasn’t played a senior game since September 2019.

He is currently working with Mark Jackson’s Under-23s and played the full 90 minutes of their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last week.
As quoted by Leeds Live (August 19th), Bielsa heaped praise on Forshaw and claimed the club are unable to buy a player of his quality in the current transfer market.
Leeds face Crewe in the Carabao Cup tonight and he wants to see Forshaw appear in some capacity.
When asked how good it would be to see Forshaw make his return tonight, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs, “That would be brilliant.
“There’s no doubt he deserves it, he’s going to be like a new signing.
“We know the quality he possesses. He’s worked tirelessly to get back to this point.
“We also know how hard it is to miss a few days or a week of training, he’s almost had two years out.
“To keep that mental strength and to keep working to get back is commendable to the medical staff at Leeds.

“It’s also commendable to Forshaw for believing in the process and staying positive.
“It would be great to have him back because a fit Adam Forshaw is like a new signing.”
