Whelan in awe of Leeds fans after ‘massive’ Bielsa reveal
Leeds United were handed a ‘boost’ by their rapturous support as they salvaged a point in the dying embers of their draw against Wolves on Saturday, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the fans could help “push the team over the line” as the possibility of a relegation battle looms large.
As quoted by the Yorkshire Post after the Wolves clash (October 24th), Marcelo Bielsa lavished praise on the Leeds United supporters for having a “decisive presence” during the game.

A raucous 36,475-strong crowd watched on as Rodrigo’s injury-time penalty cancelled out the visitors’ 10th-minute opener from Hwang Hee-Chan.
The draw takes the Whites onto seven points after nine games and leaves the Yorkshire side only three points clear of the drop zone.
Whelan insisted the rapturous Leeds United support will have “a huge part to play” in any potential battle against relegation.
“They will be massive, they can push the team over the line,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“They made the noise and brought the passion and energy and the players fed off it.
“Sometimes you can crumble under it, but the players stood up and used the crowd against Wolves to give them that boost they needed.
“The crowd have to take a huge amount of credit after what they did in that second half, that noise they brought.
“They have a huge part to play.”

Plans are in place to increase capacity at Elland Road to over 55,000 – with Whelan labelling the proposals “a massive step forward” for Leeds United earlier this month (October 11th).
The Whites travel to rock-bottom Norwich City on Saturday in search of their second win of the season.
