Whelan in awe of what he's seen from Edouard pre-Celtic v Midtjylland
Noel Whelan has heaped praise on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard ahead of Tuesday night’s crunch clash against FC Midtjylland.
The ex-Scottish Premiership forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, applauded the 23-year-old striker’s commitment to the club despite ongoing speculation regarding his future.
Edouard has less than a year left on his contract at Parkhead and is widely expected to depart in the summer window.
Football Insider revealed on June 19th that the centre-forward has told his friends he expects to leave the Hoops soon.
Despite this, Edouard has featured in pre-season friendlies against Charlton and Preston and is also expected to play a part against FC Midtjylland.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Edouard’s situation, Whelan said:

“I think he’s a brilliant goalscorer and these sorts of players can get you wins and into the Champions League.
“He has obviously got the right attitude. He never caused any problems with the club despite the fact there has always been this speculation about a move.
“But he’s done everything right, he’s respected the contract, he’s respected the club and the managers that he’s worked with.
“I’m glad we’ve seen that side of him. It’s really important that you respect your teammates now too, whether there’s a move on the horizon or not.
“You’ve still got to show 100 per cent just as they will do.“
