When Liverpool could sack Arne Slot – ‘The fans have seen enough’

Arne Slot could be given until Christmas to turn results around at Liverpool as patience is beginning to run out regarding his future at the club.

Football Insider revealed on 25 November that Liverpool’s hierarchy are backing Slot to turn things around despite what has been a nightmare campaign so far.

However, following Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat to PSV in midweek, and their 3-0 demolition at the hands of Nottingham Forest, calls for the manager’s head are intensifying.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Reds needs a result when they trave to face West Ham at the London Stadium on 30 November, or pressure on the manager’s position could become unbarable.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side are unbeaten in their last three games, having won their last two at home, and head into the game with newfound confidence of a victory.

Arne Slot facing sack calls as Liverpool fans turn

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 24 November that Slot is facing “serious questions” at Liverpool, with frustrations now starting to boil over.

The boss appears to have lost the trust of the supporters, with boos ringing out at Anfield following the PSV defeat and thousands leaving before the final whistle.

Liverpool will play five games between now and Christmas, including high-flying Sunderland, Inter Milan and Tottenham, and Slot knows he must put a run of wins together.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Yeah, the pressure’s got to be growing on him. There’s no getting away from that.

“Arne Slot said after the defeat to PSV, he feels he still has the backing of the Liverpool hierarchy, but no doubt, Arne Sot is fighting for his job right now.

“We’ve had plenty of Liverpool supporters leaving before the final whistle. They’d seen enough. There even a bit of booing after the PSV game.

“And look, that’s not the normal Liverpool thing.

“West Ham have found a bit of form of late as well so Liverpool really need a result in that game because if they were to lose that the pressure will ramp up even more on Slot.

“I think he’s got until Christmas to try and improve the situation and get Liverpool back to winning ways.”

Slot’s ‘biggest problem’ revealed after disaster run

Brown told Football Insider on 27 November that Slot is facing growing problems at Liverpool, the biggest of which is the downturn in his star players’ displays.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alexander Isak have been heavily criticised for their displays, with their declining performances raised as major concerns.

This comes after Curtis Jones publicly called upon his teammates to show some fight in the wake of their midweek Champions League defeat.

Brown told Football Insider on 23 October that Slot is concerned about key players at Liverpool, including Salah and Van Dijk, as a result of their drop in form.

The Reds have now lost six of their last seven Premier League games and have shipped seven goals in their last two games at home, raising major concerns.
