Wilf Zaha and Conor Gallagher respond as Marc Guehi shows love for forgotten ex-Palace star
Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi has praised one of his former teammates on social media, with ex-Eagles Wilfried Zaha and Conor Gallagher responding to the message.
Guehi played 60 minutes at Wembley, as Palace beat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup Final, to win their first ever piece of major silverware.
The defender has been a key part of Oliver Glasner’s side this season, playing 34 out of a possible 37 Premier League games.
Back in 2021, the 24-year-old made the switch to South London from Chelsea, and since then has broken into the England squad and become a regular in the Three Lions’ starting XI.

Guehi shows support for ex-Palace defender
Newcastle have strong interest in Guehi, and after failing to secure him last year, could make a move for the Palace man in the summer.
It is well known that the England international is out of contract in a year’s time, so Steve Parish either has to sell the centre-back now or risk losing him on a free at the end of next season.
The defender recently exhibited some of his desirable leadership qualities, as he took to social media to pay tribute to a former Eagles player.
Guehi posted a photo of himself next to Trevor Chalobah, with the caption: “I know he’s a Chelsea player right now, but let’s show some love to Trevoh Chalobah for also playing a big part in our success this year, thank you brother.”
Chalobah was recalled from his loan spell by Chelsea in January, after spending the first half of the season at Selhurst Park.
Former Crystal Palace players Zaha and Gallagher both liked the post to show their support and appreciation.
Chalobah to return to Palace
Football Insider Verdict
Crystal Palace could go back in for Chalobah in the summer, after the 25-year-old put in a number of solid performances while working under Glasner.
The 25-year-old played 12 times in the Premier League for the Eagles, and managed to score three goals from centre back in the process.
Team | Games | Goals | Assists |
Crystal Palace | 12 | 3 | 0 |
Chelsea | 13 | 0 | 1 |
Lining up alongside Guehi and Maxence Lacroix in a back three, Chalobah was starting to form a decent partnership with the pair before he was recalled.
However, the Chelsea defender could be coming back to South London to replace Guehi, if the England international moves on.
With European football on the horizon for Palace, it may even be worth letting Guehi go on a free at the end of next season, if he gives them one more year of world-class performances at the back, and takes them on a Europa League run.
