William Saliba cited as Tottenham told to accept 29-year-old offer – Agbonlahor
Tottenham and Eric Dier should look to part ways in this summer transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the Englishmen would not help the Spurs progress into the top four places come the end of the season.
Ange Postecoglou was appointed as permanent successor to Antonio Conte and will be hoping to improve upon the London club’s eighth place finish from the 2022-23 season.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven are both being targeted by the Australian.
Despite this and his poor form in the second half of 2022/23, Dier does not want to leave Spurs, according to The Telegraph.
The report says Dier wants to stay and ‘fight for his place under Postecoglou’ and will return for pre-season this weekend as he did not feature in England’s European Championship qualifiers earlier this month.
With Dier’s future In doubt, Agbonlahor believes it could be the right time for both parties to part ways.
“I don’t think Dier at centre back can help Tottenham progress into the top four,” He told Football Insider
“You can look at the goal Marcus Rashford scored against Spurs last season, when he took around Dier, he has to defend better than that.

“That doesn’t happen to William Saliba, Ruben Dias or Virgil Van Dijk,”
“Dier doesn’t have the pace to play with four-at-the-back, and Cristian Romero needs a left-footed partner, so it is for this reason that Tottenham should look to sell him on”
