Winks has reached ‘the end of the road’ at Tottenham as advanced talks reported – pundit

Kevin Campbell has suggested Harry Winks’ Tottenham career could be over if Franck Kessie joins from AC Milan.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old England international should look to move on for the good of his career if he can’t establish himself at Spurs.

As reported by The Express on Monday (27 December), Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign AC Milan midfielder Kessie on a pre-contract basis when the January transfer window opens.

Such a deal would see the 25-year-old join Antonio Conte’s side in the summer when his Rossoneri contract expires.

Campbell insisted a potential move for the combative midfielder is an “exciting prospect” for Tottenham.

“If they sign Kessie, that’s the end of the road for Harry Winks,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“I think Kessie, on a free transfer, it’s an absolute no brainer – that’s an exciting prospect for Tottenham. He’s a great player, I love him.

“But if they bring him in, you just can’t see where Winks fits into that side unless he’s content being a squad player. But I think it’s time for him to move on if he can’t get that first-team spot nailed down.”

England international Winks has started just three league games under Conte.

Kessie’s talents will be on display when he plays for the Ivory Coast during the African Cup of Nations from next month.
