Winks tipped to U-turn on Tottenham exit after Conte reveal – pundit
Harry Winks “will flourish” under Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, according to Paul Robinson.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is adamant the 25-year-old “is the perfect fit” for Conte’s new-look side.
Winks was handed a rare start on Sunday as Spurs came from behind to beat Leeds 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As quoted by Football.London (21st November), Conte claimed the centre-midfielder “struggled a lot” in the first half but recovered in the second.
Football Insider revealed in June that Fabio Paratici deemed Winks surplus to requirements with preliminary talks over a move taking place behind the scenes.
However, Robinson expects Winks to U-turn on an exit and stay in north London.
“I think Harry Winks will flourish under Conte,” he told Football Insider.
“He is the exact type of player that Conte wants. He has the engine and energy levels to impact the game all over the pitch. His ball retention is also very good.
“I do think he needs more attacking impetus in his game though. He needs to be more forward-thinking.
“I’m sure he’ll be rejuvenated under Conte.

“Winks was potentially looking to exit in January but I think he will stay now. Conte coming in could re-ignite his career.
“Winks is the perfect fit for a midfielder in Conte’s system. We saw that in the second half against Leeds. What he needs now is a run of games.”
