Wolves could yet sign Aaron Ramsdale in last-gasp twist – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Wolves are still in the running for Aaron Ramsdale and could seal a late-window deal.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the Molineux faithful will be “worried” about their squad and depth in goal after two defeats to start the new campaign.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (28 August) that cash-strapped Wolves have been put off by the cost of signing Ramsdale on loan and are now close to landing Crystal Palace’s Sam Johnstone.

Arsenal are still holding out for a big loan fee (plus buy option) to part with the England international but in a late twist, could lower their demands as the 30 August transfer deadline approaches.

Jose Sa has started the first two games of the new season in goal for Gary O’Neil’s side but has already conceded eight goals.

Wolves could revive Ramsdale deal before 30 August deadline, says Wyness

Wyness insisted he expects Wolves to resurrect their move for Ramsdale.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The Ramsdale situation is still being discussed.

“I think it will probably happen.

“Arsenal want a sale rather than a loan, while Wolves want a loan rather than a sale.

“I expect that to be resolved in some way because Wolves are on a tight budget.

“As it stands, the Wolves fans will be worried about the strength of their squad and the depth in that goalkeeper area.”
