Wolves fans can’t get over Adam Armstrong as full stats emerge from Aston Villa clash

Wolves picked up their second Premier League victory of the season on Friday as they overcame Aston Villa 2-0.

It was a wonderful performance from Rob Edwards’ side as they overcame their West Midlands rivals to reach 13 points, hence avoiding Derby’s record low total.

While relegation might be all but confirmed, it gave many of the Molineux faithful hope that they still may have the quality to bounce back next season.

Many players were exceptional against Unai Emery’s side. However display fans were particularly fond of was that of Adam Armstrong, who has now been compared to former Wolves icon, Kevin Doyle.

While Armstrong may not have scored since his winter move to Wolves, he has been quick to impress.

The former Southampton star has helped the Old Gold side reach the round of 16 of the FA Cup and picked up an assist on his debut against Chelsea.

On Friday, he claimed his second assist since his move to Molineux, as he played the ball to Joao Gomes, who converted for the opener.

On top of this, his work rate has not gone unnoticed, and fans have now started comparing Armstrong to Doyle, who played for Wolves between 2009 and 2015.

How good was Armstrong vs Aston Villa?

According to Fotmob on 28 February, Armstrong was one of the best players on the pitch in Wolves’ win over Aston Villa.

The striker completed all of his dribbles, won three ground duels, created one big chance and was not dispossessed once.

For a signing that was essentially made in preparation for their relegation to the Championship, Armstrong has been quick to showcase his abilities in the top-flight.

If the attacker can keep up this level of performance, it will not be long until he has netted his first goal in Old Gold colours.

Hopefully, Armstrong will continue to improve under Edwards, and continue his fine form in the Championship, where he has consistently found the back of the net in recent years.

While Wolves may have lost Jorgen Strand Larsen in the winter window, Armstrong looks to be a sound replacement as he continues to impress at Molineux.
