Wolves fans react to Nelson Semedo red after VAR scrap plan latest

Wolves fans have reacted to the decision to hand Nelson Semedo a red card in the first half of their game against Liverpool on Sunday (19 May).

The Portuguese right-back was penalised for a high challenge on Reds midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, with referee Chris Kavanagh originally just awarding a yellow card and a free-kick for the offence.

The official was then asked to go to the monitor to review his decision, where he decided the 30-year-old’s challenge was worthy of a red card.

Liverpool would go on to secure a 2-0 victory, with Mac Allister and Jarell Quansah grabbing the goals in Jurgen Klopp’s final game in charge of the Anfield club.

The controversial red card comes off the back of Wolves triggering a vote among Premier League clubs over whether to scrap VAR for next season.

Football Insider revealed on 18 May the West Midlands club are “highly unlikely” to see their attempts to abolish the technology succeed, with 13 other sides needing to vote in their favour.
