Wolves fans urge Lambert to start 23-year-old attacker v Brentford
By Will Butcher
Wolves fans have called on manager Paul Lambert to start winger Ivan Cavaleiro against Brentford on Tuesday night at Griffin Park.
Cavaleiro, 23, was left on the bench during the 0-0 draw against Ipswich last Tuesday, before being given a four-minute cameo role during the 1-0 win against Rotherham on Saturday.
The fleet-footed star had previously missed eight matches with a knee injury after coming off at half-time during the marvellous FA Cup win over Liverpool back in January.
With Wolves expecting to be on the back foot and looking to counter against Dean Smith’s Brentford, Lambert could opt to field pace on his flanks and Cavaleiro could be the man to provide that.
Although he has scored just four goals in his 23 appearances for the Midlands outfit this season, Cavaleiro’s first for Wolves came in the reverse fixture against Brentford in a 3-1 win.
Wolves fans are desperate to see their number 50 start on Twitter, as they take on a Brentford side that has conceded 17 goals in their last eight games, failing to keep a clean sheet.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
As well as scoring four goals, Cavaleiro has also provided four assists and could provide the creative spark needed to earn Wolves’ 11th win of the season.
