Wolves fans will be ‘concerned’ after what I’ve just heard – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has revealed he has been told Wolves will not be active in the final days of the transfer window.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed fans will be “concerned” at the state of the squad and insisted Gary O’Neil’s “honeymoon period” is now over.
Wolves have wrapped up permanent deals for Rodrigo Gomes, Pedro Lima and Tommy Doyle this summer – while Jorgen Strand Larsen has joined on loan.
Meanwhile, Pedro Neto and Max Kilman have quit the club for big-money fees.
Wolves sit 19th in the Premier League table after shipping eight goals in their opening two losses this term.
Wolves won’t be active before 30 August deadline, says Wyness
Wyness claimed a new goalkeeper may be the only arrival at Molineux before the deadline.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Fosun have always had to work within a tight budget.
“They’ve sold Neto and Kilman, and that’s weakened the squad – which was seen in that Chelsea result.
“Wolves are one of these clubs wondering where things are going to end up this week, and I’m hearing they won’t do much this week.
“A goalkeeper seems to be the position they are looking at.
“Wolves fans are worried about the strength of this squad, I’ve been seeing their comments.
“There is a concern.

“Gary O’Neil has had his honeymoon period and they’ve now shipped six goals against Chelsea.
“He’s a good manager but I don’t expect them to be very active in the rest of this week.”
