Wolves forward being eyed by two English clubs – report

By Harvey Byrne

English Championship duo Fulham and Bristol City are eyeing a move for Wolves forward Joe Mason, according to a report.

News outlet HITC have claimed on their website that the 26-year-old Irishman is a target of the southern-based clubs.

It is also said that Mason’s future is currently up in the air at Wolves with summer appointment Nuno Espirito Santo overhauling the squad left by Paul Lambert.

So far this summer each of James Henry, Mike Williamson, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Jed Wallace and Silvio have left the club permanently.

Meanwhile, the likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Willy Boly have all made the switch to the Midlands club alongside many others.

There has yet been an out and out centre-forward signing, but that is reported to be Wolves’ next target, which could spell the end for Mason at the club.

The powerful front man completed a move to Molineux in January 2016 from Championship rivals Cardiff.

However, he has so far struggled with just seven goals in 39 appearances for the club and he currently has two years remaining on his contract.

Football Insider verdict:

It is clear that Mason is not good enough for where Wolves are looking to get and therefore he is expendable for the Midlands club. A move to another English club could also be a good thing for Wolves given the current fees being exchanged around the country, including at Championship level and below. Given that Wolves have splashed out a huge £15million to sign Neves from Porto this summer they will surely have to let some players leave the club and Mason should be one of the first names in that list.
