Wolves ‘in grave danger’ after ‘£200m’ confession – Expert

Wolves will be in “grave danger” if they are relegated from the Premier League as a result of their ongoing financial issues.

This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that dropping out of the Premier League would hit the club hard.

Following the defeat to West Ham on 9 December, Gary O’Neil hinted that relegation could be on the cards as he confessed: “[Since I’ve been here] we have lost £200m worth of talent. We understand it will be tough. We will knuckle down and get going again.

This comes following the sales of a number of major players at Molineux, including the likes of Pedro Neto, Max Kilman and Matheus Nunes amid financial concerns.

As a result, Brown has insisted the club could be in trouble if they suffer relegation from the Premier League as more players will look to leave despite the lack of funds for replacements.

Meanwhile, the loss of the TV, sponsorship and prize money that comes with being in the most watched league in the world would cause a further dent to the club’s finances.

Wolves warned they are in ‘grave danger’ amid relegation threat

Wolves are now 19th in the Premier League after winning just two of their opening 15 games, and are already four points away from safety.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience working with both successful and struggling clubs including Man United, Sunderland and West Brom, insisted that if their fortunes don’t turn around soon, they will have to face the consequences.

They’ve got a few problems going on at Wolves,” he told Football Insider.

“When you keep losing your best players, and you can’t replace them, you’re just weakening your foundations all the time.

“You can quickly find yourselves getting relegated and having to cut costs throughout the club.

“You’re forced to let even more players go, and your finances take a heavy hit because you’re not bringing in Premier League money any more.

“It’s happened time after time, if you look through the Championship, League One, even League Two there are sides who used to be where Wolves are.

“Team like Wolves are in grave danger of winding up in a similar situation if they go down and lose their key players.

“Look at Sunderland, West Brom, Charlton and more. It’s a very precarious situation.”
