Wolves make emphatic transfer decision over 26-year-old striker – sources
By Pete O’Rourke
New Wolves manager Nuno has given the green light for striker Joe Mason to spend the upcoming season out on loan, Football Insider sources have learned.
Championship clubs have been alerted to the availability of the 26-year-old following the emphatic decision by Molineux chiefs.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Fulham, Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers are all keeping tabs on Mason’s situation and could now move to sign him.
Mason’s future at Molineux has been the subject of conjecture due to a huge overhaul of the playing squad this summer.
Big-spending Wolves have been busy reshaping their squad under Nuno Espírito Santo and striker Leo Bonatini became the club’s 11th signing of the summer this week after signing on a season-long loan from Al Hilal.
The arrival of Bonatini has pushed Mason down the pecking order in the battle to start up front for Wolves ahead of the new season.
Mason switched to Molineux from Cardiff in January 2016, but he has struggled to make an impact.
His 37 appearances for Wolves have yielded just seven goals but he is highly regarded by clubs in the second tier due to his impressive track record at former clubs Cardiff and Bolton.
In other Wolves transfer news, the club have agreed terms with title-winning 23-year-old.
